TERROR IN MICHIGAN - OXFORD HIGH SCHOOTING

Updated: Feb 1, 2022

It is going to be hard to enjoy Christmas this year…

Four students murdered. Eight, including a teacher injured. Millions scarred for life.

There is evidence of premeditation by the 15-year old killer, Ethan Crumbley at Oxford High in Michigan.

Madisyn, Tate, Hana, and Justin are gone forever. Their young lives were senselessly taken.

There is unimaginable grief and the families are devastated. The town of Oxford is in shock. But, the devastation does not end there.

Students across America are terrorized and will suffer from post-traumatic stress for years to come.

Oxford High administrators had serious concerns but nothing was done to prevent this tragedy.

Schools spend their resources endlessly on testing for subjects that provide no life experience but fall way short of ensuring the emotional wellbeing of students. Social media bullying, depression, anxiety, and fighting are just some of the ills students endure.

The buck stops with the teachers, but they have little help and not the right tools to deal with the overwhelming stress. They are stuck with outdated Social-Emotional programs that have been around for over 50 years and do not have answers to the complex problems educators are facing in these turbulent times.

According to the New York Times, there were 28 school shootings in 2021 with 20 of them reported since August 1st. This is unquestionably an epidemic! This latest disaster was only a matter of time and there is much more to come unless a plan is put in place.

The lack of action is literally killing students, and educators are leaving the school system in droves; 270,000 quitting the profession each year.

The CDC reports that there was a 59% increase in suspected suicide attempts by students in 2020 resulting in hospital visits and 95% of students report serious emotional imbalance. The 50% increase in fighting, the lack of empathy, and societal issues affecting families are damaging our kids for life.

ROCK MY CAMPUS is employing a new approach to Social-Emotional Learning that is based on the R.O.C.K.S.T.A.R. method developed by Founder and the heart and soul of RMC, Jonathan George.
