WHAT OUR DEFINITION OF AUTHENTICITY IS:
Confidently living in the truth of who you are.
WHY AUTHENTICITY IS SO IMPORTANT:
Authenticity promotes positive emotions. It is genuine, therefore effortless. As such, it enhances self-confidence. Only by being authentic can we have full confidence in our self-identity. Those who are highly self-aware and confident are stronger leaders, influencers, and make a greater impact in the world around them.
Authenticity is a major driving factor in your creativity, productivity, and how you connect to others. When you show up honestly as yourself and the choices you make, it builds trust between you and others.Overall, when you are authentic your mental health and well being are positively increased!
Misrepresenting yourself and deviating from who you really are to engage in a relationship, try to impress others, or get a job will never work in the long term. Honesty and trustworthiness are key in any relationship. Maintaining a disingenuous façade cannot be faked indefinitely and will eventually end up messy without achieving the intended objective. People will not trust you. You will end up miserable, stressed, and broken. Only by being authentic can we build lasting and meaningful relationships with others in both our private lives and professionally.
It is important to understand that even though you may not fully know yourself, you must be honest with where you are at the moment. It is OK to say, “I am working on ME right now to understand myself better.” It is OK to acknowledge that you don’t have it all together.. Recognizing that our character is a work in progress is part of self-awareness which is an important pillar of Social-Emotional Learning.
WHERE AUTHENTICITY FITS INTO YOUR PERSONAL BRAND
Your personal brand is YOU! It is everything that makes you who you are and how others experience you.
Here's the thing, most people never experience the real YOU because it's buried behind insecurities, fears, traumas, anxiety, overwhelm, and lack of self-awareness and self-development.
Being your authentic self is vital to your PERSONAL BRAND because it is YOU. If you do not show up in the world as your truest self, you simply cannot show up consistently. This confuses you and those who experience you. It will eventually take a toll on you and your mental health. Maintaining false image, leads to more insecurities, which causes people to mistrust you. They won’t even know why they don’t trust you, but they will sense something wrong. Instead, using that energy to enhance your genuine character will be much more rewarding.
Your most valuable asset in life is your personal brand. It is a deciding factor in every relationship you will ever have. Those who are very self-aware and confident are stronger leaders, influencers, and make greater impacts in the world around them.
People will decide what kind of person you are and if they are interested in engaging with you.
